Needwood played in front of a full house at Lords! (Rolleston Cricket Club) The atmosphere was incredible. The team played amazingly and will surely entice their fellow peers to get into the game. Everything that was wanted to be achieved was achieved. Fun, participation and so much more on top. We managed to score high but lost too many wickets knocking us out of the tournament. I don’t think the England and Wales Cricket Board, and those that love cricket could have asked for anymore of our super team.
Our year 6 children had a wonderful evening out together celebrating the end of their primary schooling with myself, Miss McAdam, Mrs Preston and Mrs Spencer. They enjoyed bowling followed by a meal, it was a lovely evening.
What a super worship by Jordan today, he told us the parable of Jesus turning wine into water. He also got us all showing our best dance moves! Thank you for all of your wonderful worships this year Jordan. We look forward to welcoming you back in October!
Yoga bugs have been in school and it has been fun! We hope you will sign up for one of their clubs in the new year!
We recognised mental health week https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/ mental-health-awareness-week and, despite, ironically being SAT week, we focussed on and emphasises the importance of good mental health not just the absence of a mental health problem. Year 6 children across the forest family enjoyed several mindfulness sessions which supported their preparation for their examinations and having an appropriate mindset to engage with them, We say well done to them for their positive attitudes towards their examinations. They started each day with breakfast, physical activity (in the form of dance and aerobics), positive affirmations and time with each other in order to discuss common fears and how to overcome them, has meant that they have entered their SATs with a positive and indeed, ‘bring it on’, attitude. We also thank our Governors for their work in monitoring compliance of SAT administration – not the most exciting thing but an important duty none the less.
Children from across the forest family, whilst disappointed as they couldn’t play rounders, thoroughly enjoyed the dodge ball tournament. Children had a great time, played well, had lots of fun and behaved impeccably.
Well done to class 2 at Needwood and Class 3 at All saints for taking part in the Songbirds performance at Burton Town Hal. They joined children from other schools in Staffordshire for a singing workshop and performed several fun songs using sign language actions
Our newly invigorated Forest school has had an excellent term. We thank Mrs Spencer for undertaking the extensive training, for her hard work. passion, and drive, the local community for their provision of the site and volunteering to enable it to happen! Children have been involved in so many wonderful activities such as sheath knife work, fire lighting, singing round the camp and marshmallow toasting, work in the stream, shelter building, identification of flora and fauna.
Dove Valley Athletics was a fantastic evening - our Forest Family team competed brilliantly with some podium spots! Well done children and a huge thank you to Mrs Wells and Mrs Pendleton for taking them all, it was a gorgeous, successful evening.
Class 1 at Needwood had a brilliant time at Packington Farm on Thursday. They learnt lots of information about sheep and pigs, played in the woods and made shelters for animals! After their picnic lunch they learnt about crops and how to milk cows!
Class 4 at Needwood had an amazing time at Coventry University at the Engineering exhibition. The morning was filled with lots of activities for the children, which they all loved and we managed to have a quick visit to the beautiful cathedral before we left—a great day had by all!”
